Timeline for Performance Assessment
Research Paper –2 Weeks

Choose topic and write questions for researching information.

Gather material from encyclopedias, books, or the Internet.

Continue to gather material and read through to identify parts that answer your questions.

Take notes on those parts (Be sure to paraphrase NOT copy directly from the text).

Continue taking notes.

Use the weekend to make a rough outline.

Begin your first draft.

Finish your first draft and revise.

Proofread for errors. Write or type your final copy. Reread for any typo or written errors.

Write a bibliography, title page, and bind together with a cover. Prepare a two to 3 minute talk about your report.

Pass in report and share with the class.

Organize your cards being sure to keep the subtopic information together.

Set up your outline.
Each Roman numeral will be a subtopic or question about your research.
Major details are you’re A,B,C etc. Details that explain further are your 1,2,3 etc.; Pass in your outlines for a grade.

Create your bibliography and include your Internet sites. Follow the format for citing each type of resource correctly.

Write a 1st draft.
Using your outline, write the body of your paper only. Do not write an introductory paragraph or a conclusion yet

 

Continue writing your first draft. Be sure to reread what you write and check for organization, supporting details, and clarity.

Reread your body of your paper and try to summarize what you have said in one to three sentences. This is your introduction. Next write what you have discovered for yourself or describe what you think about the facts that you have researched. Write a paragraph of about 3 to 5 sentences. This is your conclusion. Share your paper with two other people in class and make revision changes. Check for clarity, meaning, details with examples, a good beginning, middle, and ending.  Be sure there is no plagiarisms. Look for the “voice”.

Share again to proofread and edit your paper. Look for errors in the mechanics of writing.
Write or type your final copy. Be sure to follow the rubric for quality. 

 

Create your cover and the title page. Put your paper together.
Prepare your informal presentation. Choice the most interesting fact you learned about your topic. On an index card list what you will say 1st, 2nd, 3rd. No more than 2 minutes.

 

Project is due.
Bring in any
visuals you have to share in your presentation
